decoy 02 - 2002
another school project that yields a nifty little conversation piece. alternately fill a glass soda or beer bottle with matchsticks and elmer's glue. (the sticks used for the photo are actually bass wood) be prepared, this takes a while. once the bottle is full, let the glue harden overnight, or longer if you can stand it. once the glue has set and dried, carefully break the bottle by striking it with a hammer . *safety first! - be sure to wrap the bottle in a towel and wear safety glasses. try to work outside as this part can get messy* (also be careful not to break your new objet d'art in the process) once the bottle is broken, carefully remove any glass that may remain glued to the sticks *wear gloves* don't be discouraged if the matchsticks begin to loosen or fall off, they can easily be put back in place when the whole piece is removed from the glass bottle mold. once the glass is properly removed and disposed of you're ready to enjoy your new masterpiece!
